Data deletion instructions
How to delete what Repic stores when you connect Instagram, Threads or LinkedIn - in Repic, from the platform, or by asking us - with exactly what each option removes, what it keeps, and how long anything lasts.
In plain terms
- Connecting an account gives Repic the account id and name, the permissions you granted, and the tokens that let us post for you. The tokens are encrypted before they are stored and are only ever sent back to the platform they came from.
- For Instagram and Threads, Repic reads the public counts on the posts it publishes for you - views, likes and the like - for 14 days, then stops. It never reads who engaged or what anyone wrote, and it reads no numbers from LinkedIn at all.
- Settings → Connections → Disconnect deletes the connection and its tokens immediately.
- Removing Repic in your Instagram or Threads settings tells us automatically. If you also ask the platform to delete your data, Repic deletes what it received from that platform and gives you a confirmation code and a link to check it.

What Repic stores when you connect an account
You connect an account from Settings → Connections, and the platform asks you to approve Repic first. When you approve, Repic stores one connection record holding:
- The platform's id for your account. For Instagram and Threads this is the id the platform issues to Repic for you; for LinkedIn it is your member id.
- Your account name - your Instagram or Threads username, or your name on LinkedIn - so you can tell your connections apart.
- The permissions you granted. Instagram: read your basic profile, publish to your account, and read insights for your posts. Threads: the same three. LinkedIn: confirm who you are, and post on your behalf.
- An access token and, where the platform issues one, a refresh token, with the time they expire. These are what let Repic post for you. They are encrypted before they are written to our database, with a key held only on our servers. They are never sent to your browser or to anyone else - only back to the platform that issued them, when Repic calls it for you.
Your password - you sign in on the platform's own page, not ours. Your messages. Your followers or the accounts you follow. Anyone else's profile, comments or reactions. From LinkedIn, not even your email address: Repic asks only to confirm who you are and to post.
What Repic stores after it publishes for you
Repic publishes only posts you scheduled yourself or approved in a plan. Each time it sends one, it keeps a delivery record: when it went out, whether it succeeded, and the platform's id and link for the post - or, if it failed, the platform's error in words you can act on.
Instagram and Threads: Repic then reads the post's public counts - on Instagram views, reach, likes, comments, shares, saves and total interactions; on Threads views, likes, replies, reposts, quotes and shares. It reads them most often in the first hours after the post goes out, then daily, and never after 14 days. These are totals. Repic does not read who liked, replied or commented, or what anyone wrote.
LinkedIn: Repic reads no numbers. LinkedIn does not offer analytics for posts by individual members, so Repic keeps only the delivery record.
From those counts Repic learns what works for your brand, in two forms. It keeps each published caption with a score worked out from its counts, as an example it can learn from. And it folds results from many posts into patterns - for instance, which format tends to do better for you. The patterns carry no post id and no platform id, and you can see and delete each one on the Publish page under "What Repic has learned about you".
Option 1 - Disconnect in Repic
Go to Settings → Connections and choose Disconnect next to the account. Immediately:
- The connection record and its encrypted tokens are deleted. Repic can no longer post to that account or read its numbers.
- Posts still scheduled for that account stay in your queue, so nothing you made disappears. They will not publish: at their scheduled time they fail with a message asking you to connect an account, unless you cancel them first.
- Delivery records and counts for posts already published stay, so your results history survives. To delete those too, use option 2 or 3.
Disconnect deletes Repic's copy of your tokens. The platform still lists Repic as an app you approved until you remove it there as well - option 2.
Option 2 - Remove Repic on Instagram or Threads
In Instagram or Threads, open the list of apps and websites connected to your account (on Instagram: Settings and activity → Website permissions → Apps and websites) and remove Repic Social (Instagram) or Repic Threads (Threads). The platform then tells Repic, and:
- Repic deletes the stored tokens and marks the connection Revoked. It stays visible in Settings → Connections, saying what happened and offering Reconnect, until you disconnect it.
- Posts still scheduled for that account stay in your queue and fail at their scheduled time with a message asking you to reconnect, unless you cancel them.
To have your data deleted as well, send the deletion request the platform offers when you remove an app. Meta passes it to Repic, and Repic starts the deletion as soon as the request arrives. You receive a confirmation code and a link of the form repic.site/data-deletion/status/<code> where you can check the request at any time. Section 6 lists exactly what it removes.
This works even if you disconnected in Repic first: Repic records which platform account each post was delivered to, so a later deletion request still finds those posts.
Option 3 - Ask us
Email privacy@repic.site from the address on your Repic account, and tell us which platform and which account. If you can no longer sign in to Repic, send the platform username instead. We delete the same data a platform deletion request would, and confirm by email when it is done.
For LinkedIn this is the way to delete post records. LinkedIn does not send apps a deletion request, so: disconnect in Repic, remove Repic in LinkedIn under Settings & Privacy → Data privacy → Other applications → Permitted services, and email us for the rest.
Deleting your Repic account deletes all of it - connections, tokens, delivery records, counts, examples and learned patterns - with the rest of your account. Account deletion is handled on request today, at the same address, while we build it into the product.
What a deletion request removes, and what it keeps
For the platform account named in the request, Repic removes:
- the connection record and its encrypted tokens;
- every delivery record for posts sent to that account - the platform's post ids and links, and any error text;
- every reading of those posts' counts;
- the published captions Repic had kept as examples, with the scores worked out from that platform's numbers;
- the per-post performance signals Repic derived from those numbers.
Repic keeps, and says so on the status page:
- The posts themselves in your Repic workspace - the captions, images and schedule you created in Repic. They are your content, not data Repic received from the platform. They are unlinked from the account and any platform error text on them is cleared; any not yet sent fail at their scheduled time unless you cancel or delete them.
- The patterns learned across many posts. They carry no post id and no platform id, so they do not identify the posts that were deleted. Each one can be deleted on the Publish page under "What Repic has learned about you".
The status link shows whether the request is received, in progress or complete, what was removed and what was kept. It shows nothing else - no email address, no Repic account, no other connection. It works while the deletion runs and for 90 days after it finishes, then answers "not found". While the deletion runs, the request holds the platform account id it needs; when it finishes it keeps only the code, the platform's name, the dates, and how many items were removed.
How long anything lasts
- Tokens: until you disconnect, remove Repic on the platform, or delete your account - whichever comes first.
- The connection record: until you disconnect or delete your account. After you remove Repic on the platform it is kept without tokens, marked Revoked, until you disconnect or request deletion.
- Delivery records and counts: kept as your results history until you delete that content in Repic, send a deletion request, or delete your account. No new counts are read after a post is 14 days old.
- Caption examples and per-post signals: the same as the delivery records they came from.
- Learned patterns: until you delete them or your account.
- A deletion request's record: 90 days after it completes, holding no account id.
Deleted data can remain in our database backups for a limited period before those backups are replaced, as our privacy policy describes.
