Find out where your brand drifted

Brand drift is easy to feel and hard to point at. A feed reads like two different people wrote it, but nobody can say which post caused it. This tool measures the properties that make posts sound like each other, scores where they diverge, and names the specific edit that would close the gap.

Separate them with a blank line so each is scored as its own post.

Optional. Traits that cannot be measured from text are reported as unmeasurable rather than scored against you.

Optional. Checked for contrast against the same 4.5:1 floor the product enforces.

Free, and no signup. An account is for watching drift across time instead of one feed at a time.

How it works

Step 1

Paste two or three recent posts

Separate them with a blank line. Optionally add your palette as hex codes and your voice in a few words, and the checker will score those too.

Step 2

Six checks, each with its evidence

Sentence rhythm, who you address, formality register, filler language, match to your stated voice, and palette contrast. Every score names the measurement behind it, so you can disagree with it on specifics.

Step 3

Fix the biggest gap first

The fixes are sorted by how much they cost you, and each names an actual edit rather than a principle. A check with no input is reported as not run rather than scored zero.

What it produces

Every example below is real output from the same engine this page calls. Nothing here was written to look like a result.

A feed that drifted

A launch announcement in corporate register, a one-line casual note, and a formal commitment statement.

49

Off brand

These posts do not read as the same brand.

Sentence rhythm: 13

Sentence length swings from 3.5 words in one post to 24.0 in another. That is the single most audible kind of voice drift.

Generic language: 34

Found 3 phrases that any brand in any industry could have written: best-in-class, revolutionary, we are excited to announce.

Palette contrast: 33

1 of 3 colour pairs clear the 4.5:1 readability floor.

A feed that held

Three short product notes published across one week, plus a two-colour palette.

81

Mostly on brand

The voice holds, with one or two audible slips.

Generic language: 100

No filler phrases. The writing sounds like a specific brand rather than any brand.

Who you address: 45

1 of 3 posts speak to the reader as 'you' and the rest speak from the brand as 'we'. Readers feel this as two different people posting.

Palette contrast: 100

1 of 1 colour pairs clear the 4.5:1 readability floor.

What is brand drift?

Brand drift is the gradual divergence between what a brand publishes and how that brand is meant to sound and look. It shows up as posts that each seem fine alone but do not read as the same author together, usually through changes in sentence rhythm, formality, or who the writing addresses.

What this can and cannot see

A score with no evidence behind it is a horoscope, so it is worth being precise about the instrument. You paste text, which means this reads writing, not images. Here is exactly where the line falls.

The usual approachThis tool
Whether your images are on paletteWhether the palette you pasted is readable, using the contrast floor the product itself enforces
Whether a post performed wellWhether your posts sound like each other, and where they stop
A single number with no working shownSix checks, each naming the measurement and the edit that would fix it
A score for things it did not measureA check with no input reported as not run, and left out of the score

Not for: A brand that wants its visual assets audited. This measures writing and palette contrast, so a feed that drifted through imagery rather than words will score better here than it deserves.

Questions

Is the brand consistency checker free?

Yes. The check costs nothing and needs no signup and no card. An account is for tracking drift over time rather than one feed at a time.

What is a good drift score?

Above 85 reads as one brand with one voice. Between 70 and 85 the voice holds with audible slips. Below 50 a reader would notice the posts were not all written the same way.

How is the score calculated?

It is a weighted average of the checks that actually ran. Checks with no input are excluded and the remaining weights are renormalised, so leaving a field blank never counts against you.

Can it check my images or my logo?

No. It reads text, so it measures writing and, if you paste hex codes, the contrast within your palette. It cannot tell you whether a photograph is on brand.

Why does it flag phrases like "best-in-class"?

Because they are phrases any brand in any industry could have written. Filler language is the most common way a distinct voice dissolves, and it is the easiest thing to fix.

Where do the posts I paste go?

Nowhere. Every check here is arithmetic running in this process. Your posts are never stored and never sent to an AI provider, because scoring them needs no model at all.
