An Instagram bio that fits, first time

Instagram cuts a bio at 150 characters, and most generators hand back copy that overflows it. You find out in the app, with the end of your sentence missing. This one measures every option against the real limit, shows you the count, and drops a variant it cannot shorten on a clean boundary rather than truncating it mid-word.

Optional. Leave it blank and none is invented, because a call to action you did not ask for is the fastest way to sound like everyone else.

Free, and no signup. The bios are free, with no signup and no card. An account is for saving them and having the same voice run through your captions.

How it works

Step 1

Answer four questions

Your name as it should read, what you do, who it is for, and how you want to sound. The call to action is optional, and leaving it blank means none is invented.

Step 2

Five shapes, all measured

You get five genuinely different structures rather than one sentence rephrased, each with its character count against the real 150 limit, and a name line written for the 30 character field Instagram search uses.

Step 3

Take the one that sounds like you

The counts are shown so you can edit without guessing. When you want the same voice across every caption rather than just the bio, that is what the persona and voice tools are for.

What it produces

Every example below is real output from the same engine this page calls. Nothing here was written to look like a result.

A neighbourhood bakery

Small-batch sourdough baked overnight, for independent cafe owners. Crafted, patient, understated. Call to action: order for your cafe.

The Creator

Name line: Fold and Grain | Small-batch (28 of 30)

CraftedPatientUnderstated

Small-batch sourdough baked overnight for independent cafe owners. Order for your cafe. (87 of 150)

Never: A variant that cannot be shortened cleanly, which is dropped rather than cut mid-word.

A software product

Bookkeeping software, for freelance designers. Precise, clear, expert. Call to action: start free.

The Sage

Name line: Ledgerwise | Bookkeeping (24 of 30)

PreciseClearExpert

Bookkeeping software for freelance designers. Start free. (57 of 150)

Never: An invented call to action when you left the field blank.

What makes an Instagram bio work?

An Instagram bio is the 150 characters under your name that tell a visitor what you do and who for. It works when it survives the character limit intact, names the reader rather than the brand, and asks for exactly one thing. The separate name field, capped at 30 characters, is what Instagram search actually matches on.

Why bio generators produce copy that does not fit

The limit is the whole problem, and it is the one thing most tools in this search do not check. A bio that reads well at 190 characters is not a bio; it is a paragraph that Instagram will cut for you, in the wrong place.

The usual approachThis tool
Returns copy that overflows the 150 character limitEvery option measured, with its count shown next to it
Truncates mid-word when it does shortenShortens on a real boundary, or drops the variant instead
Ignores the separate 30 character name fieldWrites the name line too, because that is what Instagram search matches
Adds a call to action you never asked forLeaves it out when you leave it blank, and says so

Not for: Someone who wants their bio filled with emoji and trending hashtags. This writes words and counts them, and leaves the decoration to you.

Questions

Is the Instagram bio generator free?

Yes. The bios cost nothing and need no signup and no card. An account is for saving them and keeping the same voice across your captions too.

How long can an Instagram bio be?

One hundred and fifty characters. The name field above it is separate and shorter at thirty. Every option here is measured against both, with the count shown.

Why do I get five options instead of one?

Because the right structure depends on what you want first. Five genuinely different shapes let you pick, rather than accepting one sentence rephrased five times.

Does it use emoji or hashtags?

No. Neither is added for you. Both are personal choices that eat characters you may want for words, so the decision stays yours.

What is the name field for?

It sits above the bio and is what Instagram search matches on, so it carries the words someone would actually type. The generator writes it from what you do, not from your handle.

Where does what I type go?

Nowhere. The bios are composed in this process from your own words. Nothing is stored, and nothing is sent to an AI provider, because building them needs no model at all.
